I wrote a novella, but want to spare everyone, so I shortened this as much as I could. I hope you will let us know what you end up using. I truly feel compassion for the people who unknowingly got sucked into QBO. I've never witnessed a company with an outstanding product go backwards and gaslight new and existing customers into a using a product that is crappy and way more expensive. I have used QB desktop since 1995 and had heart palpitations when I found out the stand alone versions were phased out starting in 2022. QBO is overly expensive, slows down my data entry big time, (I'm a fast typer), and is overall a crappy program compared with the older desktop stand alone versions. If you would rather do your payroll inhouse, go with the QB desktop subscription version. IMO it's too easy for a bank error or fraudulent charge to go through unnoticed. I also never use bank feeds or the automatic bank reconciliations features. Older QB desktop stand alone programs are available for purchase online if you don't have an older copy laying around somewhere. Saves my clients a ton of money, (no annual subscriptions) and me a bunch of headaches, (no bugs). I have an older desktop stand alone version and have my clients use an outside payroll company.
